What is the EHECADI Knowledge Hub?

This Knowledge Hub is an online platform that connects Higher Education Institutions and their students in four healthcare disciplines with those working in the field to better address societal health challenges through international final undergraduate dissertations. The Knowledge Hub consists of the following resources:

A Community of Practice

For supervisors, students and those working in the field to interact and identify contemporary challenges and develop them into dissertation topics.

The EHECADI Course

A digital open course for healthcare students and those wanting to enhance their responsible research and transversal skills.

Personalised Guidelines

For students, supervisors and institutions to guide them in the development and implementation of an international final undergraduate dissertations.

Healthcare students today find themselves studying their profession in globalised and constantly evolving societies. Climate change, digitalisation, the embracing of increasingly diverse populations and the increased pressures of working within the healthcare system are all factors that students must be aware of before transitioning into the workplace.

The EHECADI Project:

With these challenges in mind, the European Health Care Final Dissertation (EHECADI) Project was launched in 2022 to enable healthcare students from different disciplines to address broad societal health issues such as healthcare equity, epidemic preparedness, underinvestment in healthcare workers and health needs of migrant populations within their studies.

Funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, the project will facilitate the co-development of a digital, international, and collaborative learning platform, known as the online Knowledge Hub.

This hub will host the following resources:

A co-designed Virtual Community of Practice that will share knowledge between academia and other stakeholders, detect societal needs and steer the International Final Graduate Dissertations towards addressing them.

A co-designed digital open course for students that will promote responsible research as well as the acquisition of digital and transversal skills through the length of the degree length. The course will follow the principles of universal design and it will empower students to be global-minded citizens, more sensitised towards societal needs, and with easier access to employment.

A set of guidelines for students, teachers, and institutions to support the use of the International Final Graduate Dissertation.

The resources of the online Knowledge Hub will be used by students and lecturers to support the completion of an International Final Graduate Dissertation (IFGD), a research-oriented project in which students can come closer to finding solutions to current health challenges.

Project Impact

Via the implementation of the project, the partners aim to benefit the following groups:

1. Healthcare Students

Who will be able to use the project materials, to be more aware of societal challenges and develop the skills that will enable them to tackle them.

2. Higher Education lecturers and teachers

Whose use of the EHECADI materials can help them to enhance student’s acquisition of transversal skills with minimal time investment.

3. Research groups

Who will be able to develop new international research networks via the EHECADI platform.

4. Support service and health care providers

As the EHECADI materials can help to ensure that their potential workforce is equipped with the right skills.
